Many thanks to everyone who entrusted me with your wedding photography this past year. I really do love documenting weddings, and I feel privileged to have a front-row seat to one of the most important days in my clients’ lives. I hope my photographs capture even a small part of what you all felt and experienced that day. Below are a few of some of my favorite images from this past year of Kentucky weddings. When Ali first contacted me, asking if we could do some photography in December, I was thrilled. It’s rare that anyone wants to brave the winter cold, and I was hoping this might present a chance to do some snow images—something I’ve always wanted to do. But, alas, it’s gonna have to wait for another year. Instead, we were greeted by a nice warm day, one more typical of October than the week before Christmas. At any rate, I had a great time hanging out with Ali and Benet, touring around Keeneland for their engagement shoot. And I’m really looking forward to their wedding this June.

It seems like I’ve known Brittany forever, thanks to her years at Eastern Kentucky University and the campus newspaper. She’s always been a bit of a cutup, and I’ve come to regard her as a kid sister. So when she told me she was getting married and asked if I’d do the photography, I was genuinely honored. But I was also admittedly suspicious. “And just what do you have planned?” But it was all on the up-and-up: No crazy Muppets-themed wedding or anything. Just a charming affair at the White House in Richmond (she’s a loyal newspaper girl, after all). Anyway, I had a great time with Brittany and her fiance Shannon trekking around Lexington, chasing the sun and sampling some fine Parkette cuisine. I’m really looking forward to their wedding in the spring.

I’m really looking forward to Emily and Kyle’s wedding in Richmond, Kentucky, next summer. We’ll be visiting familiar grounds, given that their reception is on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, which is always a great place for photography. For their engagement photos, we just trekked around Richmond a bit, visiting the Acres of Land Winery (view their site here) and a few stops along the roadside (basically, anything we saw that looked picaresque). I had a chance to meet (and photograph) CJ and Jon at his cousin’s wedding earlier this year, and I liked them right away. They’re both very outgoing, happy-go-lucky people. And that made it very easy to photograph them while wandering around Louisville. We even stopped by the surprisingly picaresque Papa John’s corporate headquarters, which gives the impression that it was solely created for photographers (we spotted at least a dozen or more on the grounds during the half-hour we were there). Anyway, I’m really looking forward to the couple’s Louisville wedding, which goes off in just a few weeks. Word on the street is that the reception dancing should prove interesting.
