I first met Amanda and Ben when we worked together at the student newspaper at Eastern Kentucky University. At the time, Amanda was the photo editor, and Ben was the editor. One day, the two of them set out to cover a story out of state. When they returned, something was…different. From that point on, they were usually seen together. And they both just seemed happy—an oddity in a newsroom where most souls toiled onward in a grim stupor. At any rate, I’m so happy they found each other. And I was honored to photograph their wedding at the Indian Fort Theater in Berea. The whole affair embodied the DIY spirit that both Amanda and Ben exhibited throughout their stay at the newspaper. And the result was charming—from the flowers lifted from their parents’ gardens to the trays of pasta and salad that came together minutes before the ceremony. It was a wedding that bore their stamp through and through. Cheers, guys. And congratulations.
